What is an electrical inspection condition report (EICR)?

Previously known as periodic inspection and testing report, an EICR is an essential report on the electrical equipment and wiring in your home and is designed to establish that the circuits within your property are safe. To do this, all cables are tested including wiring to the lights and sockets.

Along with this, all plug sockets and light switches are tested to ensure safety. Throughout these tests, we will be checking for risk of electrocution and fire. EICRs have also recently become a legal requirement for landlords.

The great news is that once you have a completed EICR for your property, the report will be valid for another 10 years if you are in a domestic property and 5 years for landlords who are renting their properties out to tenants. Commercial property varies in the amount of time between inspections.

Lek-Trix Limited will carry out a thorough inspection of your property lasting between 3-4 hours. After which you will receive the report and recommendations of areas that require further attention in your property.

Who is qualified to carry out an EICR?

Not all electricians can carry out EICR checks. Lek-Trix Limited can assure that we process the correct qualifications to carry out the report in the form of a Level 3 Periodic qualification.
